About the Book

What if one phrase could change how you see the world?

On a cold winter morning, my daughter Lucy looked out the window and said, “Mama, today is a butterfly day.”
There were no butterflies in sight, but in that moment, everything felt lighter, warmer, more hopeful.

Today Is a Butterfly Day invites children and grown-ups alike to see life through the lens of wonder,
resilience, and transformation. It’s a story about choosing joy, even on the darkest days.

About the Artist

Adua Hernandez was born in Venezuela and has been painting her entire life. She studied illustration at the Instituto de Diseño de Caracas and has been illustrating children’s books ever since. As a child in Venezuela, Adua's ability to go outside was restricted due to political turmoil, so she grew up reading many books and drawing. Adua turned her reality into a fantasy world, which shaped her personality and inspired her to study illustration so she would never be far from that creation. She now lives in Dallas, Texas.
